Superior Self with KJ Landis / Sleep Like a Cavegirl

I have been having neck and back aches when I wake up over the past 6 months. I went out twice this year and bought so many different types of pillows, all promising me the best night's sleep ever! I returned over a dozen of them. The oe that worked the best for me was the travel neck pillow for airline travel, the u shaped one. I have slept on and off with this one for years, eventually buying them for family members at the holiday season. Six months ago, it just wasn't the same anymore. Add to that my knee pain and elevated legs, plus the menopausal night sweats and frequent urination at night, I was tired most mornings. The only time my neck was comfy lying down was after hot yoga class, when we were still on our mats.

Two weeks ago I decided to try and sleep without any pillow, like our ancestors did for eons. Wow. What a difference. When I slept on my back I used no pillow. When I slept on my side, I had a small tea towel rolled up like a sausage to support my neck, and the travel pillow just in case...Here I am now, two weeks later and feeling little to no neck aches, so this works for me. I highly recommend you experiment as well. So many people I know are changing their eating and exercise lifestyle to the pattern of the cave people, or the hunters and gatherers. So why not give yourself a chance at really good rest without neck aches in the morning?

A good night's sleep is essential to the hormonal system running smoothly. This affects our physical and emotional well being on so many levels.
