Motivated Mom / Fall Self Care Activities For The Whole Family

Fall is such a special time of year filled with all sorts of activities and things you can only do this time of year. It may not seem obvious but these activities are amazing for your mental health and can be an important part of your self-care routine. So as we embrace Fall here are a few special things you can do to change up your self-care routine.

Enjoy the Fall Colors on a Hike

Wrap up warm and go for a hike through woods in the middle of their fall color change. You may feel cold but seeing all the wonderful bright colors really helps to boost your mood. Plus, it has been proven that getting fresh air is vital for your mental health. If time is tight, try to find just 15 minutes to walk around your neighborhood and see if you can find any fall colors there. Your body and mind will thank you.

Invest in a SAD Lamp

For many Fall is when seasonal depression begins and it lasts until Spring. This is a long time to go with depression. If you experience seasonal depression in Fall and Winter invest in a SAD lamp. These lamps simulate exposure to the sun and make it much easier to get through the season.

Jump in Some Leaves

The perfect Fall activity is to be a kid again and jump into a pile of leaves! Take a few minutes to enjoy the crisp fresh autumnal air and relive your childhood by jumping in that huge pile of leaves, it’s the perfect fall activity. You can even turn it into a party! Invite your friends over and you can all take turns being kids again, laughing and having fun with people you love.

Learn to Make a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Home

It is pumpkin spiced latte season but, running out to Starbucks every time you want one gets expensive fast. So why not learn to make them at home? They’re so much cheaper this way and you don’t even have to change out of your PJs to get them! You can find a ton of great recipes for them online. Experiment with a few to see which one you like best.

Make Homemade Soup or Stew

While you’re learning to make that pumpkin spice latte make yourself a big batch of soup, stew, or even chili. As the temperatures drop they will warm you from the inside which does amazing things to boost your mood. It will last for 3 days in the fridge so make more than you need and you can have it again later when you might not be in the mood for cooking but you want something hot and delicious.

Sleep Longer

The sun is going down earlier so take advantage of the darkness and get a little more sleep! It will help you feel more refreshed and clear-minded to tackle the day ahead. It will help your stress levels go down and the way you react to situations will also change.

Treat Yourself to a New Sweater

It’s a small thing, but sometimes there is nothing better than the feel of a nice new sweater wrapped around you. So go out and treat yourself to a new sweater. A little bit of retail therapy really does wonders when you’re feeling the fall blues. If you already have a large sweater collection donate one of them or give it to a friend so your collection doesn’t become too big.
