Steve Rothaus

When Steve Rothaus began covering the gay community for the Miami Herald in 1997, he was one of the first reporters at a mainstream newspaper anywhere in the country to cover gay issues as a regular news beat. He came out at work in 1987, served five years as a board member of the National Lesbian & Gay Journalists Association and traveled the country visiting newspapers, television stations and college campuses to discuss gay news coverage and workplace issues.
